3. Install Your First Collector
Now that Bindplane is running, we'll install our first collector to start collecting telemetry.
Bindplane is built around OpenTelemetry and uses the Bindplane Collector distribution for OpenTelemetry. To learn more, check out the GitHub page.
Installation
- Navigate to the Collectors tab and select the Install Your First Collector button inside the Collector table.
- Our Collector Installation wizard will walk you through installing an Collector. The first step is to select the platform you'll be installing an collector on. When you've completed the form click the Next button.

Installation for containerized collectors on Kubernetes and Openshift first requires you to specify the assigned configuration for the collector. If that's the case you must first create a configuration for that platform.
- Now it's time to install your collector. Installation differs depending on the platform specified. In the case of Windows, macOS, or Linux installation you'll need to copy the installation command. Installed collectors will appear in the table on this page. When you're done you can view all collectors with the **Return to all Collectors** button.
Upon successfully installing the collector, it will appear in the table below the install script.
